Cavelle Joseph – St. Omer SWP, SHRM-SCP, MBA, B.Sc.

Cavelle Joseph-St. Omer is a globally recognized Human Resources executive with twenty years of experience working to effectively balance big-picture thinking and strategic planning with hands-on execution. Her passion is providing HR solutions for her colleagues and clients by helping them build their HR infrastructure through technology, compliance and people. She is a hands-on Human Resources leader, specializing in HR and administrative processes and systems development, organizational assessment and investigations, group facilitation and teambuilding for business leaders and employees.

No stranger to speaking at International forums, Ms. Joseph. St. Omer was a panelist at the CaribHR Forum 2021 virtual conference in Kingston, Jamaica. Prior to becoming President of HRMATT, in 2019, Ms. Joseph St. Omer presented at HRMATT’s 12th Biennial Conference on the topic of Human Resources and Human Rights in the workplace. She was invited to speak at Women of World, the first International Women’s Day Conference, held in Barbados on March 8th, 2018. In February 2017, she was a speaker at the AMCHAM T&T Health and Wellness Seminar, and in February 2016, Ms. Joseph – St. Omer was a keynote speaker at the opening of the World HRD Congress, 24th annual conference in Mumbai, India. She also presented at MIC Institute of Technology in Collaboration with AFETT; Unlocking Your True Professional Potential Conference; The Commonwealth Youth Council, Trinidad and Tobago inaugural Youth Convention; Engage, Inspire, Empower; and Arthur Lok Jack Graduate School of Business, International Day for the Elimination of Violence Against Women Seminar, Strive, Thrive, Transform and has delivered training workshops on behalf of the Human Resource Management Association of Trinidad and Tobago (HRMATT) and spoke at their biennial conferences, in 2013 and 2015. Her articles “Workplace Bullying – What do we actually know about it? And Employee Boarding- Do it right from the get go” were also published in the HR Magazine, HR-Matters.

Ms. Joseph–St. Omer is the recently re-elected President of the Caribbean Institute of Human Resource Management, where she continues to champion the advancement of HR practice across the region. She also serves as President of the UWI Arthur Lok Jack Global School of Business Alumni Association. She is a former Director on the Boards of TSTT and of The National Training Agency and is an active member of the Society for Human Resource Management and a certified SHRM instructor.

As the President of the Human Resource Management Association of Trinidad and Tobago, she is responsible for charting the strategic direction for the association, whose mandate is to be the leading voice on the Human Resource Management practice by providing a platform to strengthen the capabilities of our members as we continue to create value in the profession both domestically and globally.

Ms. Joseph – St. Omer is a past member of the Board of Governors of NIHERST and served as the Chairperson of the HR Committee. Additionally, she is a past member of the Industrial Relations Advisory Committee; a past Director, in the capacity of Treasurer and Chairperson of the HR Committee on the Board of Turtle Village Trust; the Past President of the Association of Female Executives of Trinidad and Tobago; the past Secretary of the Pest Management Association of Trinidad and Tobago; a past Director

of the Gender Advisory Board, of the Institute of Gender and Development Studies, The University of the West Indies, St. Augustine; and additionally, a past member of the Advisory Council of the World HRD Congress. She previously served on the Boards of South AIDS Support in the capacity of Secretary, and a member of the Sub-Committee for the Women’s City Centres Programme in Trinidad and Tobago, Design Module: Economic Empowerment and Design Module: Governance.

In February 2016, Ms. Joseph – St. Omer was recognized as one of the top 100 Global HR Professionals by the World HRD Congress. She was acknowledged for her contribution to South AIDS Support at its 10th anniversary function in 2011. Additionally, she was also bestowed with the Spirit of AFETT award by the Association at the International Women’s Day Function 2015.

Throughout her impressive career, she has proven successful at developing cultures of collaboration and implementing change to affect workforce excellence. Ms. Joseph-St. Omer is a passionate champion of policies and laws that advance opportunities for women and girls. This desire to achieve gender parity has also inspired her to advocate for improved childcare solutions in the workplace, the abolishment of child marriage and, most recently, the introduction of sexual harassment legislation and a workplace code in Trinidad and Tobago.

In 2017 and 2018, she joined the Trinidad and Tobago civil society delegation at the 61st and 62nd sessions of the United Nations Commission on the Status of Women, held in New York.

She is the holder of a Master’s of Business Administration with Distinction, specializing in Human Resources Management, from the Arthur Lok Jack Graduate School of Business; a Bachelor of Science Degree in Economics and Law (Double Major); Diploma in Labour Laws and earned her international certification with the Society for Human Resource Management as an SHRM – Senior Certified Professional.
