Launch Highlights

An inspiring start to something meaningful.

Hosted by Leah De Souza, the launch featured remarks from HRMATT President Cavelle Joseph-St Omer and a keynote address by Kereesa Carrington-Nunez, Director for Sub-Saharan Africa, the Caribbean and the Americas at the Association of Business Executives Ltd (ABE).

Other highlights included a panel discussion featuring participants from the programme's first cohort and a speed networking session that allowed mentees to connect with prospective mentors.

Together, these experiences established an atmosphere of openness, encouragement and purposeful professional connection.

Keynote Address

Mentorship beyond titles.

In her keynote address, Kereesa Carrington-Nunez challenged participants to rethink traditional ideas about mentorship.

She encouraged attendees not to focus solely on titles or status when seeking a mentor, but instead to identify individuals who genuinely listen, understand their circumstances and provide meaningful guidance.

“Don't be a fly on the wall when you enter a room. Walk bravely, shake a hand, and engage with someone.”

Emphasising that mentorship is a lifelong journey, she reminded participants that learning is continuous and experience is a valuable tool for navigating challenges and opportunities.

She encouraged mentees to embrace authenticity, develop confidence, strengthen emotional intelligence and communicate effectively while learning from different perspectives and experiences.
