Kiran Maharaj

Kiran Maharaj is current President of the Trinidad and Tobago Chamber of Industry and Commerce, and Managing Director of Caribbean Lifestyle Communications, including Music Radio 97.1FM, The People’s Station Radio 90.5FM and Heartbeat Radio 104.1FM (the world’s first radio station for women). Her career spans over 30 years in media and entertainment where she has been involved in all aspects of media as a senior executive and owner including radio, television, film and events management. She is also Co-Founder of the Media Institute of the Caribbean which serves twenty-two (22) countries in the Pan Caribbean region. Her tertiary level educational background includes Literature, Business Administration, Marketing, Journalism, Events Management, Media Strategy,  from institutions such as UWI St. Augustine, Heriot Watt, New York University (NYU), and Harvard. She enjoys working with non-profits and civil society entities who are focused on improving lives and providing opportunities through innovation. She has in the past served as President of the Trinidad and Tobago Publishers and Broadcasters Association, a Past President of the Greater Tunapuna Chamber of Industry and Commerce and is currently a Council Member of the Organization of American States Centre for Media Integrity of the Americas. In 2005, American Women in Radio and Television dubbed her “An Island of One” and in  2018 she was the recipient of the Woman of Courage Award from the US State Department and US Embassy Trinidad.
