In a significant step towards understanding the local Human Resource landscape, the Human Resource Management Association of Trinidad and Tobago (HRMATT) officially launched its inaugural Human Resource Survey on January 27, 2025. This initiative aims to gather vital data from HR professionals across the nation, addressing the diverse needs of the profession that often go unrepresented in international research.
The survey, meticulously designed by Lucent Research, seeks to collect both qualitative and quantitative data across all functional areas of Human Resource Management. Ramón Gregario, Chief Executive Officer of Lucent Research, emphasized the importance of local insights. “For the first time, HRMATT is empowering HR professionals in Trinidad and Tobago to contribute to a comprehensive understanding of our unique challenges and opportunities,” he stated during the launch.
HRMATT’s President, Cavelle Joseph St. Omer, communicated her excitement about being the first HR association to embark on such an important initiative. She indicated that the results of the survey will provide valuable insights into the problems HR professionals experience during their careers. The data collected will enable the association to make recommendations for addressing these issues and to work with organizations to close the gaps identified. Joseph St. Omer also noted that the survey can be shared with other stakeholders within the region, presenting a significant opportunity to integrate the HR profession regionally. “Platforms like these can help bring HR services and best practices to SMEs that do not have in-house HR capabilities,” she added.
The launch was well-attended, and featured key figures such as HRMATT’s Director of Education and Research, Danica Williams and Secretary Rhonda Matthew-Garcia, along with HRMATT’s Director of Public Relations Desmond Lawrence and his PR Team members, Sarah Arneaud, Elizabeth Gowsawack, Maria Brooks, and Keisha Alexander.
As an added incentive, participants who complete the survey will have the chance to win a $100 Amazon Gift Voucher, encouraging widespread participation among HR practitioners in the region.
In addition to the survey launch, a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) was signed between HRMATT and the Tunapuna Chamber of Industry and Commerce. This agreement aims to create mutually beneficial opportunities for chamber members to access HR services, while also allowing HRMATT members and partners to offer their expertise to the chamber’s network. The signing took place at the boardroom of the Trinidad and Tobago Coalition Services Industry (TTCSI), marking a collaborative effort to enhance HR service accessibility within the business community.
HRMATT’s initiatives represent a pivotal moment for the HR profession in Trinidad and Tobago, fostering a community of professionals eager to share knowledge and improve practices. The association encourages all HR professionals to participate in the survey and take advantage of the collaborative opportunities presented through the new MoU.
